When the Bowerbird seeks a mate, he collects a menagerie of monochromatic garbage and natural trinkets, arranges them in an carefully-curated nest, then rehearses and performs an elaborate mating dance. If the female is impressed, it's a match.
That's the inspiration behind this 2-song music video for Chicago mainstay The O'My's, but here, instead of birds, it's people engaged in this delicate dance of attraction or rejection. In making this, we realized that us humans' courtship behavior isn't all that different from these fascinating birds...
The piece was directed by Jeremy Freedberg, and features dancer Imani Willams and up-and-coming model Seraphina Russell.
